A permanent Pianodrome
Local institution and creatively subversive art collective spread their impact by putting down roots in Bruntsfield
Circular economy trailblazers Pianodrome have been in existence since 2016. Reimagining what could be done with the UK’s surplus pianos, Tim Vincent-Smith created an amphitheatre for performance in the round. As they say on their website “The Pianodrome has since become an iconic symbol of community and cultural resilience in Scotland’s capital.”
The Pianodrome, and the various aligned activities, performances, and workshops, are one of the best ways of communicating how the circular economy can work. This closely aligns with our own work in promoting the Circular Economy in the construction sector.
The chance to help Pianodrome set up permanently in St Oswalds’s Centre in Brunstfield was a great opportunity. We were very happy to help them navigate the licensing and Building Standards regimes, gaining Scotland’s first Building Warrant for a structure made of Pianos in the process.
